We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land in which we live, work and play. We pay our respects to the Elders – past, present and emerging. They are the wisdom and knowledge holders, the storytellers, of the ancestors of these lands who have cared for and lived spiritually as one for many generations with our environment.
About Sydney Business and how we can help develop your business
Sometimes the best business ideas are born from the most personal of problems. For one music enthusiast, discovering that years of cherished vinyl records had been damaged by mould while in storage could have been a devastating blow. Instead, it sparked the beginning of an extraordinary entrepreneurial journey.
Determined to salvage his collection, he developed a meticulous, multi-step cleaning process combining ultrasonic and vacuum-cleaning techniques with a range of specialised cleaning fluid mixtures. With a loan from his mother to purchase the necessary equipment, he got to work, and the results were remarkable. Seeing how effective his system was, he soon realised he could offer the service to fellow collectors, music lovers, and audiophiles who shared the same problem.
It was through the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) that he discovered the Self-Employment Assistance program, which led him to Sydney Business. With several providers to choose from, he did his research and, after reading reviews, decided Sydney Business was the best choice. “From the outset I found them fantastic to work with. Their course was really clear and structured and walked me step by step through the process of setting my business up.”
Having completed the Micro Business Skill Set from the Small Business Training, he then moved on to the Small Business Coaching. The ongoing support from the Sydney Business team continued to make an impact. “I have found their ongoing communication and support invaluable in helping me achieve my goal and would highly recommend them to anyone wishing to embark upon the journey of starting their own business.”
Now doing what he loves, his advice to anyone considering self-employment is simple: “Don’t be scared to give it a try. If you have an idea you believe in, and the passion to put it out in the world, go for it. There is nothing better than supporting yourself by doing something you feel passionate about, that you have built from the ground up.”
