The New Enterprise Incentive Scheme
NEIS is a program which assists unemployed people in turning a viable business idea into their own small business.
NEIS is funded by the Department of Employment. This initiative helps you become self-sufficient and independent by establishing a new small business.
Approved applicants will receive training in small business management, business skills and assistance to develop your business plan. A NEIS allowance and rental assistance can be provided by the Federal government to eligible applicants.
What NEIS provides
- Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) Accredited training in Small Business Management and Micro Business Operations so you can establish and run your own small business
- Mentor advice and support for 12 months
- Income support for up to 39 weeks (NEIS Allowance) (if eligible)
- Rental assistance for a period of up to 26 weeks (if eligible)
Please note that NEIS does not provide start-up capital for your business.
